Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have been in Scouts before?
No, around half of current Scouts are completely new to it, others join from Cubs or Brownies.
Do you currently have spaces?
Scouting is very popular, but places do become available from time to time. Fill in the
contact form to find out about current availability.
Where do Scouts come from?
At 5th Guildford we have Scouts from across Guildford, although most are from Onslow Village and the surrounding areas.
Where does Scouts meet?
For Friday meetings we usually meet at our building on Onslow Village Recreation Ground. On Saturdays we meet in the afternoons (typically from 2pm onwards, to suit those with activities in the mornings) at various outdoor locations such as Bentley Copse Scout Activity Centre in the Surrey Hills, and other local Scout Campsites. From Easter through to September we try to have every meeting outdoors.
Can you join at any age?
Young people can join Scouts at any age. Once they reach the age of 14 they can take part in Explorers or become a Young Leader, taking on more leadership responsibilities.
